Successful Launch of The Potteries Pound White Paper Highlights Stoke’s Potential as a Hub for Social Finance and Digital Technology
Wednesday 9th October 2024 marked a significant milestone for the future of Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding Potteries as the much-anticipated launch of The Potteries Pound – A Community-Driven Digital Currency White Paper took place at Keele University Science Park. The event, hosted at Innovation Centre 7, drew a diverse and engaged audience, demonstrating strong community support for this groundbreaking initiative.
The launch event was made possible through the invaluable support of Keele University Business School, the Digital Society Institute, and Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce. The event featured three insightful speakers:
Mike Riddell, who provided an engaging overview of the history and development of The Potteries Pound, reminding the audience of the rich heritage of the Potteries and its potential to tell a new and positive story about its future as a centre of excellence for social finance and digital technology.
Dave Proudlove, who presented The Stoke Model’s Economic Strategy, offering a detailed outline of the economic vision and pathways for community-led regeneration and sustainable growth in the Potteries.
Yash Gavali, the author of the White Paper, gave an informative summary of its key contents, highlighting how The Potteries Pound aims to transform the local economy and create a resilient, community-driven financial ecosystem.
